Bridlington Spa and Spa Environs
The redevelopment and refurbishment of Bridlington Spa is progressing well, with the final touches now being made to internal and external decoration.
The spa is due to be complete in May 2008 with its official opening in June.
The area directly outside the spa is benefiting from investment by Yorkshire Forward and East Riding of Yorkshire Council through an enhanced public realm scheme. The Spa Environs scheme aims to create a top quality urban environment, which complements the refurbishment of the spa complex and enhances the facility's reputation as a high quality location for entertainment and business. Contractors are currently on site laying new York Stone pavement with granite kerbs which will also provide additional space for the outflow of visitors from the spa.
Phase 2 of the Spa Environs scheme will see designers from all over the UK having the chance to shape Bridlington's seafront as part of the ongoing redevelopment of the spa. A national competition will be held later this year to redesign the wider area around the spa, which will be the first stage in linking the harbour with the town centre. An exhibition will give the public a chance to be involved in the design process.
