Pickering
One of the first RMT towns, Pickering joined the RMT programme in 2003. Pickering completed an initial business plan in 2005. Pickering is the largest of the north Ryedale towns and houses a major attraction - the North York Moors Railway. RMT is currently involved in a project to develop the visitor and educational facilities and the carriage workshops on the station site. It is hoped that this RMT work will be followed by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant in summer 2008, which would greatly expand the visitor facilities and help safeguard the future of the railway.
