Settle

Settle Town Centre, a gateway town for the Yorkshire Dales

One of the first RMT towns, Settle joined the RMT programme in 2004. Settle town team have formed themselves into a group named StART, but are currently looking to develop themselves in the new year, possibly into a legal entity. Currently Camlin Lonsdale has completed a feasibility study to revitalize the riverside walkway. This would make the path more accessible to all, but would keep the character of the present right of way e.g. accessible, modern interpretations of "squeeze" stiles etc. The project would also improve access to the riverside and incorporate public art.

The winner of the market town category of the 2006/07 Fraser Teal awards was Mark Dale from Settle. He is using the bursary to pay someone to undertake his regular job, whilst he focuses on developing a music festival for Settle, to be held in August 2008.

Rural Target Fund projects include improved town signage and a potential project at the Town Hall to develop youth facilities.
