Selby District
The Selby district was included in the third phase of towns which started in 2004.
The Selby district is made up of three towns, Selby, Tadcaster and Sherburn in Elmet. The three towns have strong identities and loyal local communities. The towns are very different but each of them has enormous potential to build on its strengths to achieve a renaissance. The towns all have their own visions as well as a vision for the combined area. Selby published its SDF in 2006, helped by advisors Urbed.
- Sherburn in Elmet’s core will be strengthened by improving the public realm.
- Tadcaster town centre will be progressed towards implementation.
- Selby will become a 21st century market town with a lively town centre surrounded by high quality housing and high-tech businesses.
Yorkshire Forward has allocated approximately £5m towards Selby district’s renaissance.
